Reading Women

Sweet Solitude, by Edmund Blair Leighthon (1919)

Sent by Laura (the UK).

Sent by Eutrapèlia (PC). It shows the famous bookshop Shakespeare & Co. in Paris (France).

Sent by John (the UK). The Little Convalescent (about 1873.1879), by the American painter Eastman Johnson.

I sent it months ago to John (the UK), but I cannot help me to show these wonderful reading women by Inge Löök:

And two stamps also featuring reading women, sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). The first one is a picture by the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (Woman in blue reading a letter). Update: here you can see the series.
