Chinese Stamps

This is a post for Sunday Stamps. The theme for this Sunday is Chinese or Taiwanese stamps. I don't have tons of stamps from these countries. But the choice was difficult anyway, because Chinese stamps are usually wonderful.

I'm showing you one of the best. Update: Joy (see comments below) wrote: "it's a scene from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of the great classic novels of China set in turbulent feudal times. The title of the stamp is Liubei gets married". It arrived along with another stamp that matched with the postcard, representing Wuhou Memorial Temple at Nayang.

Considering that Chinese New Year is celebrated not only in China and Taiwan, but in a lot of countries and chinatowns around the world, I want to share also these stamps that surprised me. They arrived from Canada:

  1. I wonder what type of ceremony is being shown on your first stamp. I think there are China towns all around the globe.

  4. So nice to see! And similar to Viridan, I am wondering what the Chinese stamp means. Could be a ceremony. Or maybe Chinese Opera?

    1. I'm ashamed to confess I know almost nothing about Chinese culture or languages (but I'm learning through stamps!).

  5. I was in Canada last June, on the day your Canadian stamps were cancelled. I did send a lot of postcards but sadly those stamps didn't seem to be available. They are great!

  7. I like the idea of the Canadian stamps, nice to identify where the Chinese settled in Canada.
Temple sites always look so peaceful. Your other stamp is a scene from the 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' , one of the great classic novels of China set in turbulent feudal times. The title of the stamp is 'Liubei gets married'.
