Beatles Fans + Missent

This is my contribution for today's Sunday Stamps II. The theme chosen is Making Music.

This stamp by Royal Mail on January 9, 2007. It belongs to a miniature set of 4 x 1st gummed stamps showing Beatles memorabilia (like this toy guitar), from the collection of Pete Nash. I find fascinating that these stamps are not dedicated to the musicians or the music, but to the merchandising around them.

The stamp arrived on the back of this postcard sent by John (the UK):

A bit wretched arrived, didn't it? Well, not strange if we consider that it was written on March 22, 2014; postmarked two days later... And arrived on May 19... 2015. Nothing serious:the Dragon decided to go for a stroll before landing in my mail box. Just to... Jamaica.

  1. The guitar mini sheet is fantastic. And what an amazing postal addition and adventure - now you can say you have received mail from Jamaica!

  2. I like the frivolity of having the merchandising the focus!

    1. That isn't the commonest topic for stamps, is it?

Wow on the missent postcard! It's at least a lot to say for diligence on behalf of the general worldwide postal service that it still made its' way to you! ;)

    1. Sometimes the mail adventures are amazing. What a trip for a poor postcard!

  4. Perhaps the post wanted to show off this stamp to a wider audience. I had never seen the Beatles stamp before

    1. There are a lot of people around the world collecting Beatles memorabilia, so maybe this stamp is more interesting for them than for stamp collectors.

  5. Amazing itinerary, and how nice that they have a rubberstamp to proof the journey of the card! Glad it arrived after all, and nice stamp! I feel sorry for not having joined this Sunday Stamps this time, music is one of my favourite subjects!

Alas I wasn't home for the biggest part of the Sunday. However, where I was I had plenty of time - but no internet - so I could write down my answers to your mail tag questions. They are coming your way soon (I hope, be it or be it not via any other country?!?)

    1. I hope they will not decide to go for a stroll to any distant country! ;-)

  6. Com pot ser?? I com és que els va costar tant redreçar l'enviament?? Potser encara rebré algun dia la postal que J. em va enviar d'Egipte fa cinc anys.

  7. No wonder the card has some creases after that journey. I like how there is a special 'missent' stamp.

    1. "Poor postcard" was what I thought... Its travel, and this stamp, makes it more special.

  8. Looks a little like the Welsh dragon had a bad sense of direction on his way to you! So cool that it finally arrived though.

I once received a letter here in Japan from Britain (I think...long time ago now). It had been stamped on the back with a rubber stamp from Iran. I was quite perplexed about that one!

    1. The most amazing fact is that these postcards have arrived after such long trips!
