The theme for this week in Sunday Stamps is Christmas or holiday stamps. I didn't search a lot, I want just to share some of the Christmas stamps I received last year or two years ago. I find fascinating by how different countries adapt this theme, introducing their own traditions.
I like specially this stamp from the Netherlands. Without forgetting the religious aspect of Christmas, it focuses in other important aspect: children and the magic of Christmas for them.
The stamps below are most winter than Christmas...
There are always two Christmas stamps in Spain: one with the Spain rate and one for Europe. In the last years, the designs usually are inspired in maternity. The two stamps showed date from 2010 and 2009, and they are for letters within the country. The Christmas series is the only one who is written in the four official languages in Spain (one stamp a year!). It says Happy Christmas in Spanish (Feliz Navidad), in Catalan (Bon Nadal), in Galician (Bo Nadal) and in Basque (Egubelarri Zorontosuak).

Wow, a great selection. The Snoopy stamp is my favourite. I have a Smithsonian cancellation from 1989 (I think), when I visited and posted a pc at the museum.
ReplyDeleteI sent one from the North Pole (in fact, I was visiting Father Christmas' home) and it has the postmark from there. It is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely stamps! :) It's really fun to see how each country picture Christmas on stamps. Ours are usually snowman, Santa Claus, Christmas tree, snow flakes and reindeer. I love the Snoopy one a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the Netherlands one , as you do, thank you for joining us this week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamps, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSure, an impressive postmark on Postmuse's stamp, I love it!
And how nice, the multilingual Spanish stamps (thank you again for sending me one - I'm happy to see it on your blog, I was in doubt whether putting on my blog or not, and I thought you alreday might do so - fortunately you did!).
As I like comics and animation movies, the Wallace and Gromit stamp is one of my (many) favourites :-)
What a lovely selection of stamps, the child and the window captures all the essence of Christmas and who can resist Snoopy. Nice treat to receive the Postal Museum cancel. I would like to visit that museum
