The theme for today in Sunday Stamps is Professions or Trades.
I am sure somebody else is contributing with stamps from the same set. But I have received these recently, and they are the first ones I thought of:
These Brazilian stamps belong to the series Profissões issued in 2005, 2006 and 2007, designed by Hector Consani.
The stamp Sapateiro ('Cobblers') and Costureira ('seamstresses') were issued in 2005, along with another one dedicated to Engraxates ('Bootblacks'): Empreendedores com raízes no passado ('occupations with roots on the past').
The Manicure ('Manicurist') was issued on 2006 along with a stamp I would like to receive: the Pipoqueiro or `Popcorn seller'. I could not imagine a stamp dedicated to this profession!
And still in 2007 were issued the stamps of the Barbeiro and Carpinteiro ('Barber' and 'Carpenter').
You can see all the stamps and more information about them here.

Oh I hope you get the popcorn seller! This is a great series.
ReplyDeleteThose stamps remind me of my long-term pen pal from Brazil - we started to write in 2006, and he still uses those stamps on his letters. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had the same thoughts! I've received the sapateiro, costureira and manicure, too, and also for me these were the first ones I thought of when reading about Viridian's new theme last week...
ReplyDeleteFunny to see that there are so many combinations possible with these stamps. I saw the Pipoqueiro stamp (four times upside down :-) ) on Danut's blog, http://worldcometomyhome.blogspot.nl/2013/02/510-513-brazil-afro-brazilian-religions.html
Those stamps are amazing. Very colorful graphic design. The faces are unusual, with just a mouth and some hair, which under many circumstances could be creepy, however here they work extremely well.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me think of the US Celebrity Chefs stamps.
Popcorn seller! I'd like to get that stamp too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining in this week.
I never expected to see such a selection of professions/trades form one country. Popcorn is not good for me.
ReplyDeleteI've had a few of those stamps and keep hoping more will turn up, always nice to see them they are such a great design.
