Ouch! That hurts! This is a postal addition which would make me sad, too... Is the sticker easy to remove, or does it tear the stamps (and cause also tears in our eyes)?
Maybe you should write a letter to HQ (head quarter?) 37203 (just write Royal Mail, HQ 27203, United Kingdom, on the address side of the envelope, I wouldn't be surprised if it would arrive!). With a copy of these pictures, complain about the silly and disrespectful treat of their own beautiful stamps, and ask them to provide you with new stamps. Who knows what they will answer! Or maybe the two of you (also the sender) can write, so that they will see the urge of it.
You could try heating the stickers with a heat gun or hair dryer, that will often soften the glue on them allowing them to be much more easily peeled...I came across your blog through FfinnBadger's blogroll. Cheers, Carroll in Vermont

I had the same question: is it hard to remove it?
ReplyDeleteWhy does Royal Mail put that awful sticker over the stamps? We used the correct postage! Outrageous!!
ReplyDeleteLaura
It isn't usual, fortunately.
DeleteI don't think those stamps are issued by royal mail.
ReplyDeleteThe stamps are issued by Universal Mail (http://www.universalmail.co.uk/). I think the sticker was added by Royla Mail, but i ignore exactly why.
DeleteThe addition of the RM label is weird, as these stamps from Universal Mail UK can only be used for international postcards....
DeleteHow very annoying! Especially as they were specifically asked to handstamp them!
ReplyDeleteAs I told to Laura, this doesn't happen so often. Luckily!
DeleteI think these arey our postcards from Scotland:(

ReplyDeleteIt seems impossible without damaging the postcard :(
DeleteThanks for your visit! I hope you will come back :D
