The Ramadan is going to start tomorrow. So the occasion to wish رمضان مبارك (Ramadan Mubarak) to everyone who celebrates it with this handmade postcard sent Phillip (the USA).
It arrived with three uncancelled Delicioso Forever stamps. With them, the USPS "celebrates the influence of Central and South American, Mexican and Caribbean foods on American cuisine. This booklet of 20 stamps features six dishes from an array of Latin American culinary traditions that have found new life and variations in the United States".
Thanks to Phillip and Bryon I have got the whole delicious set!
Oh, tamales! It's been ages ago since I ate them. I've tasted the version of Nicaragua and the version of Aruba and I loved both. The latter in NL, offered by a former housemate whose mother had sent parts of the ingredients straight from the island to her, including banana leaves. She was so happy to make tamales after years living abroad, feeling the warmth of her home-place again, and I was happy she shared them with me :-)

DeleteHaving said that, now here in Canterbury in the Dane John Gardens a Latin American family has taken the refreshments hut, and they make nice empanadas.

DeleteIt looks like it got a little bit dinged in travel, but it made it. And nice to see you already have the full set of these fun stamps. I wasn't going to get any initially, but they are a lot nicer in person than on scans, I think.
