Today's theme in Maria's link Postcards for the Weekend is Mail / Postal. Probably a favourite theme for a lot of collectors of postcards!
This is one of the latest I have got, sent by Laura (the UK) after her visit to The Postal Museum. It is the reproduction of an old advertisement from 1956. The name of the artist is Barbara Jones.
A postcard sent by John (the UK), made of pictures that he took himself . I suppose this is a clever substitute: a mobile post office with several stops. But it is also sad that these branches have been created because so many small post offices have closed down in England, Wales, and Scotland...

J'aime beaucoup la reproduction de cette ancienne carte ,elle me fait penser aux dessins publicitaire de Savignac! En France aussi de nombreux bureaux de poste ont soit réduit leurs nombres d'heure d'ouverture ou ont définitivement fermé ,certains ont été transformés en agence postale ,les gens n’écrivent plu ,même les personnes âgées téléphonent pour présenter leurs vœux de nouvel an !

DeleteHello Eva, you're right! It's probably a favourite theme among us! It's always nice to see items related to our hobby. Thanks for sharing these postcards. I especially appreciate the second card which shows the inside of a mobile post office.

DeleteLove the Mermaid postcard. I'd recommend everybody to use water-proof ink for postcards, though... :) (I received one or two lately that looked as if they might indeed have been delivered by a mermaid.)
ReplyDeleteI wish the newer postcards weren't all with a shiny back. and being left handed doesn't help...
DeleteYes, I also hate the postcards that are difficult to write on! There should be a scale of "penfriendlyness" when you buy postcards!
DeleteJohn's real photo postcard is an interesting slice of life. And a fair substitute if rural post offices must close.
