Open air museum "Ellert en Brammert" |
There is a label in this blog that reads places I've been to. But, sometimes, I think I need a places-I-never-been-to-but-I-think-I-know-because-I-get-a-lot-of-postcards-from label. The Netherlands, thanks to Heleen, is one of those places!
Drenthe |
De Weerribben |
I am surprised you've never been there!
ReplyDeleteI've been about to visit the Netherlands sometimes, but that trip has never existed. I mean... so far :)
DeleteI think you know even more of the Netherlands than many travelers/tourist from outside NL know!
ReplyDeleteThese postcards come from the two provinces in the east of the Netherlands: Overijssel (de Weerribben) and Drenthe (the Ellert and Brammert museum and the other card). Almost every tourist who has visited the Netherlands only knows the west part of the Netherlands ('Holland') or maybe the central located city/province Utrecht (where the Miffy museum is located :-) ). But the east of NL is rather unknown.
And guess what: I visited Drenthe for the veey first time in my life when I already was in my fourties! Even though I spent more than half of my live in an other city in the east of the Netherlands (Nijmegen, in the province Gelderland, south of Overijssel and Drenthe)
Sometimes I think I really know the Netherlands, thanks to your letters and postcards.
DeleteI'd like to visit the country in person one day!
