Dutch stamps issued in 2017, featuring marine creatures that are not so usual to see on stamps:
- Fucus vesiculosus
- Gracilariopsis longissima
- Limecola balthica
- Spisula subtruncata
- Raja montagui
And another stamp recently received. At first sight I thought it belonged to the same series, but this one was issued in 2003, and features a common shore crab (Carcinus maenas).
To dive a bit more into the deep blue sea, go to Sunday Stamps.
These are great specimens! I'm not sure if I even have anything like them. The shorebirds selvage is nice - I wonder if they are marching away from the crab?!
ReplyDeleteOr looking for cabs? ;)
DeleteThe first is a pretty stamp I like its composition and the subtle colours.
ReplyDeleteYes, it looks really great on the envelope.
DeleteThese are great stamps!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks :D
DeleteIt also looked to to me as if these would be from the same set. Not sure If i have ever received these on my mail, usually the Dutch ones I receive are quite repetitive.
ReplyDeleteI love the details on the first stamp... as if you could almost feel the fragility of the shells, so well depicted!
Thanks to my friend Heleen, I get a lot of beautiful stamps from the Netherlands. They are usually very detailed.
DeleteThe crab looks fearsome on this stamp but they all look fierce to e.
