Parus Rock, situated 17 km from Gelendzhik, stands perpendicular to the coast and it is three-quarters hidden underwater. This natural monument, 30 m tall and about a metre thick, is shaped like a rectangular sail.
The stamp was issued on 27 April 2012, and belongs to the series Winter Olympic Games 2014 - Sochi - Tourism on Black Sea.
This is a Sunday Stamps post, the topic today being Geology.
Love sandstone, at 1m thick it is quite a survivor.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will survive long time!
DeleteAnd it even looks like there's a hole just as with a real sail.
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteWow, I posted a similar stamp from Hong Kong!
ReplyDeleteThere must be a lot of similar stamps, but some of them are particularly nice.
DeleteGreat stamp, I didn't realize that there were so many stamps to tie in with the Sochi winter olympics
