Sunday Stamp | Moustaches on Stage

Today's theme on Sunday Stamps is, again, Moustaches. I found some of them, proudly worn by actors.

Christopher Plummer (1929– 2021) was a Canadian actor. His career spanned seven decades, gaining him recognition for his performances in film, stage, and television. On the stamp,  the five main roles of his long career.

József Katona (1791–1830) was a Hungarian playwright and poet, creator of the Hungarian historical tragedy Bánk bán. The stamp shows an engraving from 1845. I ignore the name of the actor.

The Black Adder is a sitcom written by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson (on the stamp, without moustache), originally aired on BBC 1 from 15 June 1983 to 20 July 1983. I guess you know the name of the moustached actor better than me.

Only Fools and Horses is a British television sitcom originally broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom from 1981 to 1991. Again, I am sure someone here know the actors.

Douglas Fairbanks (1883–1939) was an American actor and filmmaker, known for his swashbuckling roles in silent films.

    1. On that stamp, the moustache, the beard and the hair are equally wonderful!

  4. You can't beat a swashbuckling moustache, I think Fairbanks Jr had one too. I'd forgotten Brian Blessed made an appearance in Blackadder. A beloved eccentric and giant of a man who also appeared in the the film Flash Gordon as Prince Vulcan from which he got his famous catch phrase which he will shout VERY LOUDLY at a moments notice - "Gordon's Alive".

  5. Those are nice! I don't think the one of Christopher Plummer picked quite the right image though. I had no idea he was Canadian.

    1. According to the Canada Post website: "He was consulted in the process from the very beginning and helped choose the five roles that appear on the stamp to represent his much loved and celebrated career." So, I guess he was happy with the picture.

  6. This made me look up Blackadder on youtube - one of the best shows ever. I thought that was Brian Blessed...
Love the stamp with Douglas Fairbanks.
