More Cars on Stamps

The theme for Sunday Stamps #142 was Cars. After having published the three cars I had received... I started to receive more cars!

(All them sent by Laura, in the UK).

This red car, sent by John, is a bit older. There is some funny about Morris cars. I had seen one of them only in comic, because El Súper, a character of famous Spanish comics Mortadelo y Filemón (Mort and Phil) owned one of these. Until two years ago I thought these cars existed just in the comics...!

What a big contrast between the old mail box and the brand new post office! The five postcards I put in this mail box have reached its destinations.

Keep Calm and Watch Lighthouses

Do you know the Keep Calm-o-matic? It is a funny tool to create advices in order to stay calm. This one (not created in this site, tough) is one of the best I have heard:

Postcard sent by Laura (the UK). It shows South Foreland white lighthouse in Dover (England, the UK).

Maxi-postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). It shows the lighthouse of Kökarsören in the Aland islands. The card is the number 61, issued on 6th June, 2008.

Postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). The name of this lighthouse isn't written on the card, but Heleen managed to find out that it is Ponta do Pargo in Madeira (Portugal).

Postcard sent by John (the UK). It shows Beachy Head Lighthouse, built in 1902 near Eastbourne, East Sussex, England.

And another postcard sent by John (the UK). It shows the lighthouse in  St. Anthony Head, situated at the southernmost tip of the Roseland Peninsula (Cornwall, UK).

Feliz Cumpleaños

Hand-made postcard sent to Karla (Spain) as part of Challenge #13 of Mail a Smile. The theme was Black & White, but I added some pink and red because I thought birthday postcards need to be cheerful. The envelope:

Beer from Jupiter

Sent by PostMuse (the USA).

This was a response to this mail, made of beer packaging as well. It dodged the controls of post office workers in both sides of the Atlantic, in spite of the provocative name of the beer.

(By the way: have you noticed the little red lighthouse?)

Diplomatic Mail

Bridges

Sometimes I think in the post like a bridge between two (or more) people. Probably this is the reason why I love bridges on postcards and stamps. I had a little collection. Behold the latest bridges I have got:

Koffiekopje...

Little postcard (10 x 10 cm) sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). It is a detail of the painting Koffiekopje ('Cup of coffee') by Jan van der Kooi (1997).

The envelope is not less nice. Front and back, and matched stamp (one of my favourite themes, you know):

Chinese Stamps

This is a post for Sunday Stamps. The theme for this Sunday is Chinese or Taiwanese stamps. I don't have tons of stamps from these countries. But the choice was difficult anyway, because Chinese stamps are usually wonderful.

I'm showing you one of the best. Update: Joy (see comments below) wrote: "it's a scene from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of the great classic novels of China set in turbulent feudal times. The title of the stamp is Liubei gets married". It arrived along with another stamp that matched with the postcard, representing Wuhou Memorial Temple at Nayang.

Considering that Chinese New Year is celebrated not only in China and Taiwan, but in a lot of countries and chinatowns around the world, I want to share also these stamps that surprised me. They arrived from Canada:

Origami Heron

Postcard sent to Piper (the USA), as my contribution to the January's challenge of Mail a Smile. The theme was Birds, so I also put two birds on the envelope.

Love on Stamps II

Very original Dutch stamps sent by Heleen (the Netherlands)! When you scratch the heart, it appears a missage: Schrijf me ('Write to me'), Geintje ('?'), etc. I did not scratch the first, but you can see the result in the second:
