Today I introduce you Quinnlyn the Quail, on a postcard sent by Bryon (the USA) especially for the challenge. With a beautiful postmark as a bonus!
There are even two games with the letter Q on the back. The last question (Can you spot the hidden letter in Quinnilyn the Quail?) isn't intended for adult recipients. But I let the first to you:
Are you:
- Quirky
- Quiet
- Quick
- Quotable
- Quaint
- Queen-like?
----------------------------------------------------------------
I know: Quail, Quiditch and Quibbler have nothing to do. But I started the #AtoZChallenge asking for help with some letters. Help arrived by mail... and reorganised some posts.
Envelope sent by Phillip (the USA), with an illustration of the poster of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup. [Update: it also appears in the Q-post of Phillip's blog, envelope100. His challenge is dedicated to mail art.]
It included, among others, a postcard with the same design (that I coloured and re-sent):
Another about The Quibbler. (For non-Harry Potter fans: The Quibbler is a wizarding tabloid, considered rubbish by some people, that publishes odd articles, including conspiracy theories and discussions of imaginary creatures.)
I had no idea! that there are HP stamps! :) And they are beyond awesome and heartwarming...and the quail pc is too cute.
ReplyDeleteAced the Q post...Brilliantly!
Thanks, Nilanjana! USA stamps, sometimes, are really original!
DeleteFantastic stamps and matching postcard. Looks like you scored. Maui Jungalow
ReplyDeleteThanks, Courtney, I'm glad you like the post.
DeleteBeautiful stamps, postcard and posters! If I can lay my hands on some, I know a few people who will love me for gifting it :D
ReplyDeleteQuaint
They are no posters, but postcards. But probably those people would love them anyway.
DeleteThose are some really cool Harry Potter post cards, I love the stamps as well :)
ReplyDeleteToday on my A-Z of my Favourite Things, Q is for Queen - the band not the monarch.
A lot of Harry Potter fans here! Thanks for your visit.
DeleteThe postcard with the quail is rather quirky.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose for myself, I'd go with Quiet and Quotable.
Not Queen-like? ;)
DeleteI love the Quail, and I love how you colored the Quidditch postcard. Did I tell you how hard it was to color even that part of the Quibbler card? The writing was so tiny...
ReplyDeletePhillip | Q is for Quidditch
I thought instantly that they are made for colouring. But yes... that's difficult! Not only because of tiny parts, but also the colour pencils doesn't work well on that surface. It wasn't so bad, at last.
DeleteThe Harry Potter film with quidditch in it was shot at Alnwick Castle not all that far from us. I had the castle in and earlier A-Z theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm quiet, I think.
I haven't seen all the films (I prefer the books). But I must say that one thing that amazed me is that some of the locations of the films were real castles/houses!
Deletewho doesn't like harry potter? but I still don't really like Quidditch, such a violent sport, but hurray for Harry
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
Thanks, Lissa. Even if one isn't the biggest fan of Harry Potter, I think those stamps can please a lot of people.
DeleteMy son is a huge HP fan and he was so excited to see this!
ReplyDeleteShubhangi @ The Little Princess
How old is he?
DeleteYou ask for help and then three walk in:)
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
I'm looking at these stamps and wondering why I stopped sending mail.
Your 'queen-like' choice makes me smile.
Q is for questions to a Blogger
Maybe you need to resume sending mail :D
Delete(There are all sort of queens!)
I love the graphic design of the Quibbler. So fun. WeekendsInMaine
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I love the design of these postcards, too.
DeleteI love that Quail!
ReplyDeleteAnd the other postcards/stamps of course. The Quidditch is coloured so beautifully!
I am surprised that you didn't choose 'qwerty', as I was thinking of it when considering the key-cards you have sent me some months ago!
And no, I am far from queen-like. Maybe quirky (having a smurf in the kitchen and sending/receiving odd objects in the mail sometimes :-) ) and sometimes quiet, somwtimes quotable.
I thought of qwerty, but I had already used that word in another alphabetical project (with FinnBadger).
DeleteI think I am somehow quirky too... I am confess. But, as I wrote above, there are all kind of queens in the world.
(By the way... I sent some royal figures to you. I hope they have arrived well!)
I would say I am quirky and I like the quirky collection of cards you have shared.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think I'm quirky, too. But I can dream I'm queen-like, can't I? ;)
DeleteJust gotta love that quail's legs and shoes. Delightful!
ReplyDeleteNow I wonder if quails wear always stripped socks...
DeleteGreat Q post! Leave it to S.K. to come up with a Q word for the world. I'm gonna grab my broom & go practice. The rest are wonderful as well. Quirky being a fave. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAre you good at quidditch? ;)
DeleteThe Quidditch poster is much more impressive as you've colored it! Harry Potter stamps came out as a limited release. I used a couple of books' worth, but I still have one book that I saved for posterity. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :D
DeleteI hope the recipient liked it as well!
The way the postmark and the quail intersect on the postcard, makes it look to me like the quail is drinking from a little waterfall. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's true! I thought it was funny, but now I can't stop of seeing the waterfall... :)
DeleteI know it isn't q-themed, but I really like the train stamp on Bryon's postcard! :) I haven't seen any like that where I am in the US, maybe they're regional.
ReplyDeleteThe socks on Quinnlyn are just adorable! <3
Here's my "Q" post :) http://nataliewestgate.com/2017/04/quiet-secret-diary-of-a-serial-killer
I don't know when it was issued, but I think it is a bit old, that stamp. I agree with the socks! :D
DeleteI think I'll go with "quirky". I bought some HP stamps but I haven't used very many of them because I hate parting with them. Silly, isn't it? A-to-Z-er Jetgirl visiting via Forty, c'est Fantastique
ReplyDeleteI can understand that you don't want to part with them.
