Postcard sent by Bruno, showing the Relics Chapel of the Royal Monastery of the Incarnation (Real Monasterio de la EncarnaciĆ³n) in Madrid, Spain.
I like to receive postcards from such original places! The sender wrote that the number of the relics of saints there, and the containers, were amazing. Would you like to visit this creepy place?
Not sure I Really would like to see Relics - as you say a bit creepy - but the Room is wonderful!

I think the same (and also the sender did!).
DeleteGreat room but the relics would leave me cold.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that.
DeleteI'm in the creepy camp on this one. I do like your word for R, though.
ReplyDeletePhillip | R is for Reconnecting
I think it was this postcard (and the word relics) the one that kindled the idea of the challenge.
DeleteI would focus on the opulence of the place, and what it signified to all those true believers. Then I would take a close look at everything on exhibit while I shook my head and wondered at the decadence and wealth of a church that worked so hard to keep its subjects poor and illiterate.

DeleteI'm nodding 'yes' to all the comments before me...Cat's, Sue's, Bob's and Philip's.
ReplyDeleteA cool word to pick for R Eva.
R is for Rann of Kutchchr
Thanks :)
DeleteIt wasn't difficult to choose this. I so love this postcard.
Wow! another great one!

Glad you like it too.
DeleteUnusual, but in history, there were lots of people who wanted to gaze at the body parts of saints. Now it seems a bit eerie, but it reminds me that in old Hawaii, the bones of the royalty were considered imbued with sacred power, bestowing the holder with those powers. Which is why they took such care to hide those bodies so no one knew where they were located. This doesn't seem that different - a belief, like in magic, of something super powerful in those bones. ReplyDeleteI agree with you: there is no difference. Thanks for sharing it, Courtney!
DeleteThe room looks amazing. If I don't let my mind wander to the creepier details of the relics, I think I could handle seeing this in person.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the room, despite of the relics.
DeleteI would love to visit this creepy place. But I'm of the sound and mind to visit any old place in general. I'm a bit of a busy body. I agree, the room looks amazing.
ReplyDeletePosting a creative piece today. Still in its making.

Like you, I also feel curious about old places full of history.
DeleteThanks for coming!
I'm not so bothered by the relics - I've seen pictures of other places where relics are housed that quite call to me.
ReplyDeleteThis, however, is not making a sound.
Not even the tiniest peep.
(I take that back... I'm pretty sure I hear a small whisper of, "Not for you, Jz!" now that I listen even harder...)
I'm not bothered by the relics. But I don't like them especially.
DeleteSeen some relics. A bit creepy, yes, doesn't bother me much though. Beautiful post card. Nothing creepy about that :)
ReplyDeleteBest,
Nilanjana.

Thanks for your comment. It is an interesting postcard, I thought.
DeleteSuch an ornate setting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture though...

Thanks, Michelle! Yes, it is a bit overelaborate... I guess it was the aesthetic of that time.
DeleteI would definitely like to visit! :) I love going to look inside different chapels, churches, and monasteries, etc whenever I'm abroad - they're all so unique and interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteHere's my "R" post :) http://nataliewestgate.com/2017/04/reveal-secret-diary-of-a-serial-killer
This one sems interesting enough to me, too.
DeleteWell, the room is lovely! You said containers and my mind went to "urns." Not sure if that's what you meant, but that would be creepy to me, lol. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are not only urns here, but also boxes, jars, statuette... all sort of containers!
