Today's theme at Sunday Stamps is Eastern Hemisphere. Just sharing some intricate illustrations on Chinese and Japanese stamps, for the eyes' pleasure.
I love classic scenes on Japanese and Chinese stamps. I wondered about the second one and couldn't decide if it was modern or old. I'd never have guessed its theme -50th Anniv of Japanese Broadcasting Corporation which they have used a 20th Century Shiko Munakata woodblock print called Sight and Hearing.
As @Joy wrote, the stamps commemorates the 50th Anniv of Japanese Broadcasting Corporation, and the illustration is "a 20th Century Shiko Munakata woodblock print called Sight and Hearing".

ReplyDeletePurposefully, I decided not to add the themes to the post. But I confess that the second one also puzzled me when I found out!
DeleteThe Chinese art is so exquisitely detailed.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteThat second stamp from Japan is intriguing. These are a colourful lot.
