States Project | Heart of Dixie

I believe that Alabama is the first postcard Bryon sent for the States Project, but it arrived in the eighth place. Written on 16 May, it did not get its postmark until 28 July, and it landed ten days later.

States Project | The Gem State

In this postcard of Bryon's States Project, we are informed that Idaho is the "home of 72 types of gemstones".

But... do not try to fool me! Everybody knows which one is the most important gem of Idaho, as the postcard below shows (also sent by Bryon, long ago):

Thursday Postcard Hunt | Magere Brug

This folded card shows a bridge over the river over the river Amstel in Amsterdam (Netherlands). 

The central section of the bridge is a bascule bridge made of white-painted wood. The present bridge was built in 1934. The first bridge at this site was built in 1691 as Kerkstraatbrug and had 13 arches. Because this bridge was very narrow, the locals called it magere brug, which literally means "skinny bridge".

There are some legends associated to the bridge. If you feel curious, you can read about them in the Wikipedia.

I have got two more postcards of the same bridge. An advertisement one...

States Project | The Peach State

As you can see on the back of this new States Project postcard, Georgia is one of the US states which have changed their flag in the recent years. In this case, the new flag was adopted in 2003. The nickname, The Peach State, remains the same despite of others very popular Georgian products.

A Week for WPD

Last year, I sent some postcards with the official WPD design. I got two myself: from Tricia (the USA), as she held a giveaway in the Postcrossing forum; and from Imma (PC) and a lot of people from a Postcrossing Meetup.

Thursday Postcard Hunt | Waalbrug

Several views from the Waalbrug, an arch bridge over the river Waal, in Nijmegen.

It  was opened on 16 June 1936. The full length of the Waalbrug is 604 metres, the middle of the arch being about 65 metres  high. The arch itself is 244.1 metres long and was the longest arch in Europe at the time of construction.

All these postcards were sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). I had uploaded some of them to this post, with matching stamps.

States Project | The Aloha State

The Hawaiian postcard from the States Project arrived together with the Alaskan one, and I cannot imagine two more disparate places.
