Postcard sent by Eva (Germany), featuring Nuremberg Castle (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany), built by emperor Konrad I in the 12th century.
I like to receive original postcards (for instance, yesterday's vintage drawing of a bank). But I also love to get just (comercial, standard, you name it) views. Those are usually beautiful pictures that give me the sense of the place and a certain share of the sender's trip. And they make me feel like travelling.
Being born in a village with a medieval castle on its top, I couldn't believe when a blogger friend wrote that he had never visited a real castle... Have you ever visited a castle? Did you sent any postcard from there? Would you send this one, for instance?
I love castles and I always buy tons of postcards when I am in one :)
ReplyDeleteWould you like to exchange postcards? :)

I'm not sure that I can do a swap during this month... Maybe later? Drop me a note trough Twitter (@MailAdventures) or the contact form of the blog. And thanks for your visit!
DeleteCastles are awesome. Great postcard :-) Happy A-to-Z-ing.
ReplyDeleteI think so! Thanks for your comment.
DeleteLove castles and forts and citadels. Haven't visited this one, but several others in the ME and elsewhere. Totally would send a postcard like that!

DeleteIn our 1989 New England vacation, we visited Hammond Castle in Gloucester MA. Unfortunately, it was closed so we did not get to take a tour. Maybe one day, we'll get a chance to re-visit and walk through this incredible place. This is the only castle I'm aware of in North America. It's not nearly as large as some of the European castles which are totally impressive and so cool. Whenever you get a chance, check out some critters I drew for the letter "C" in my A2Z series, Art Sketching Through the Alphabet! Happy a2zing, my friend!
ReplyDeleteSo you need to come back to Europe... :)
DeleteI did visit the Tower of London and the Biltmore House (almost a castle). Postcards are cool.
ReplyDeleteC is for Church Committee: Intelligence Abuses by the CIA
I like the idea of "almost a castle" :D
DeleteI did a whole A-Z Challenge on Castles some years ago and all tied in to ghosts of one sort or another. No castles on postcards though, It has been a theme previously on Sunday Stamps
ReplyDeleteThis year, the theme for Europa Stamps is Castles, so we are going to see some beautiful castles on 2017 stamps. I received the Dutch, not in time to be added to this post!
DeleteThat is a beautiful postcard. I have been in a few castles in the past. My family lived close to a ruined castle and priory when I was young.
ReplyDeleteSo, like me! But my castle wasn't ruined. I used to play in the castle as a child. I also got married there. Now is more organised for tourists. But still, you can enter for free if you live in the village, which is great.
DeleteI have never visited a castle. It is on my bucket list. Unfortunately there are not many in North America and even fewer on the prairies. I would send a postcard from the castle if I ever get to visit one.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will enjoy when you finally did. don't forget to send postcards! :)
DeleteI love castles! Someday, I'd like to stay in a place where castles are not infrequently used like hotels, such as Ireland. In person, I saw the Montfort Castle ruins in the Upper Galilee region, and had my picture taken against its backdrop.
ReplyDeleteStay in a castle like this... that would be great!
DeleteCastles are awesome - anytime i go travelling a visit to a castle is an absolute must :)
ReplyDeleteNotesinaBook
Me too... if there is any!
DeleteBig, old drafty castles. It's compelling to imagine the reality of people living and working in them. I've visited the Windsor, Warwick, and Edinburgh castles. Each was revealing and enjoyable, but I got the greatest sense of rooted history in Edinburgh's.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you did, in Edimburgh. Somehow, history breathes in stones.
DeleteCastles are the best! And growing up by one would be fantastic! Thankfully, I have been to castles, but not until I was in my early 20s. I can't hardly wait to visit more of them some day. (And yes, I sent myself postcards from the castle. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've never sent postcards to myself, but I've noticed that a lot of people do so.
DeleteNo, I have never stepped foot inside a castle nor even seen a real castle. I love the postcard photograph, especially because one of my ancestors emigrated from Bavaria.
ReplyDeletehttp://gail-baugniet.blogspot.com
I have no connection with that place, except what the sender told me, but I love that picture.
DeleteThanks for visiting the blog!
I have not visited Europe so far leave alone any castles there.. . It does look breathtaking...
ReplyDeleteC for Cup
I haven't visited this one either, but I wish I could do so one day.
DeleteI was born in Germany and moved to the USA 30 years ago. I miss castles!
ReplyDeleteI guess it is a thing I would miss if I were living in the USA, too.
DeleteI've never been to a castle, but I would love to. The one in the postcard is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt seems so. I'd like to visit it, too.
DeleteI've been to a few castles in Europe and the Gillette Castle in Conneticut. Oh, I can't forget to mention Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disney land (does that count?)
ReplyDeleteBut, I didn't send postcards.
Of course it counts! I bet you can't find a more inspiring castle :)
DeleteOh, I love a good castle, so much history.

Yes, you can feel it!
DeleteI've visited a number of reconstructed castles in Japan. They are also beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJapan isn't a country that I would associate with castles, but I would visite those, too.
DeleteYes, at least two castles in Germany but I think more. Neuschwanstein and one of King Ludwig's castles.

I think I received a postcard of the latter, some time ago.
DeleteWhat a fun theme! I love postcards (and handwritten letters)! I can hardly wait to see where the alphabet takes us... I'll be back!

Food in Film: Chocolate
I'm glad that you like the theme. I also love handwritten letters, but I thought that postcards would be interesting for the #AtoZChallenge. The blog is full of mail art covers, if you wander a bit...
DeleteThanks for coming!
Castles are so full of personality. I love their beauty and their history. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree: "full of personality" is a good description for medieval castles.
DeleteCastles are amazing. Many years ago I visited a castle in England and hope to have the opportunity to visit more some day. Would definitely send postcards! - Marie The Articulate Image
ReplyDeleteI agree with your whole comment :)
DeleteI do love the standard post cards. Such pretty views and so tempting!
ReplyDeleteMy A to Z at herding cats & burning soup
Yes, you feel like travelling every time apostcard arrives...
DeleteI haven't been to Nuremburg Castle, but I'm originally from England and grew up very close to several castles. It's always strange to me as well, when people say they've never been to one. Although now I live in America and there aren't any here - I miss them!
ReplyDeleteMy "C" post :) http://nataliewestgate.com/2017/04/captain-secret-diary-of-a-serial-killer
I guess it is more difficult if you live in a country with no (or few) castles. But, as someone has suggested in a comment, you can always visit the Sleepy Beauty castle in Disneyworld...
DeleteI love to travel and would love to see this someday. It's on a very long list! I'm enjoying your theme.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Darcy! My list is also too long, I'm afraid.
DeleteMerci de montre ma carte ici. Je suis été dans beaucoup des châteaux...aussi grandir dans un village avec une...
ReplyDeleteMais non, c'est moi qui te remercie de l'avoir envoyé, bien sûr! :)
DeleteI've been to the Heidelberg castle in Germany and many Forts in India. Also seen some castles along the Rhine (from a distance). Love castles and forts.
ReplyDeleteSuzy at Someday Somewhere
Forts in India sounds fantastic!
DeleteThanks for your visit.
