Sunday Stamps | Basic Blue Heads

Today's theme on Sunday Stamps is The Colour Blue.

I have chosen some basic stamps which people usually don't pay attention to. I hope you don't find my choice too dull!

Belgium

Denmark

Spain

France

The United Kingdom

Morocco

The Netherlands

The USA

  1. Well if you must have the blues Eva, that’s a good way to show it! :)

  2. There is something about the Belgian King's expression.
And I've always liked the various Mariannes.

    1. I love to see the variation of Marianne, too.

  3. Yes the Mariannes win it every time. I think our Queen ones must have used every shade of blue by now and wish we had had more inventive uses of the monarch like other countries.

  4. I still find the Dutch stamp creepy in a ghostly way.

The Machins are certainly a consistent thread in British postal life.

And sadly the Europe rate Marianne is no more.

    1. That Dutch stamp seems an engraving, like a coin, more than a stamp.

I think the Machins are like the universal symbol of a stamp.

    2. I totally agree with FinnBadger that the Dutch stamp looks creepy. The international version of this definite stamp is even more creepy, as it is grey instead of blue and WA looks very pale on that stamp.

I thought both stamps very ugly, however, I had some international 'ugly stamp' exchange and to my surprise the others thought this a beautiful stamp. So I learned to appreciate the beauty in even this stamp.

Thank you very much for sharing a collection of great blue stamps!

  5. It took me ages to work out whic President went with which Marianne when I was checking them some years ago. You've shown us a number of GB stamps that I had not seen before.

    1. The number of Machin stamps seems infinite...
