World Mental Health Day

Last year, the United Nations Postal Administration issued three postage stamps on 10 October to coincide with the annual recognition of World Mental Health Day. The theme for 2023 was “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right”.

The stamps were illustrated and designed by Sergio Baradat. This one represents Confusion. You can see the rest here.

Also Correos (the Spanish postal administration) issued one stamp on the Mental Health Day, with the Line 024 as protagonist. This is a telephone help line for people with thoughts, ideations or risk of suicidal behaviour, and their families and friends.

In May, I received this postmark from the UK, dedicated to the Mental Health Awareness Week:

  2. How good that stamps are issued on this theme.
And until this month I wasn’t aware of the existence of Mental Health Day.

The number 024 is the city phone number of my dear former city Nijmegen :-)
The phone number in the Netherlands for telephone help for people with thoughts or risk of suicidal behaviour is 113 (chosen because it is next to the general alarm number 112, although I am wondering if the ‘13’ was intentional too).

As far as I know PostNL hasn’t issued any stamps about mental health, despite of several national campaigns, like the recent ‘weeks against loneliness’ and a campaign to speak out, for and to people with depression.

    1. I think the topic is important enough to issue stamps raising awareness. I'd like the Spanish stamp was more artistic, like the UN ones.

However, I appreciate that not only the Spanish language appears on the stamp, but also three more languages. Usually, that only happens with the Christmas stamp (within Spain rate).
