Sunday Stamps | D Is for Different Shapes

Most stamps are rectangular, but some have other (odd) shapes...

Update: I see in the comments that the Dutch stamp is a winner. I have only got one of these stamps, but it belongs to a sheet of odd-shaped stamps:

Women on Postcards | K Is for Karabanovo

Peasant Girl, by Filipp Malyavin (Фили́пп Андре́евич Маля́вин), 1910

Postcard sent by Eduard (Russia). As he explains on the back: "Karabanovo is a satellite city of Alexandrov. In the 19th century, it was famous for the cottons fabrics of merchants Baranov."

The stamp of the shawl the girl seems to wear was issued in 2012. The whole sheet is stunning (picture taken from here):

Sunday Stamps | City Birthday

On October 27, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750 anniversary. Along with other celebrations, PostNL released a special stamp sheet. This sheet contains 5 unique stamps designed by Amsterdam-based designer Michiel Schuurman.

And I have got almost the whole set!

Paper Cats

I received these postcards months apart from Phillip (the USA). I cannot help but think that it is the same cat on both.

Sunday Stamps | Quartz

Today's theme in Sunday Stamps is Minerals. I found two stamps featuring quartz: one from France (1986) and one from Ukraine (2009).

Snow Globes

Hand made envelope made by Phillip (the USA). It was sent on 16 November 2023, and arrived on 29 December 2023, bearing the First Day of Issue Postmark.

This is what USPS says about the stamps:
Christmas snow globes are miniature holiday celebrations. One shake and snow covers the scene. Your holiday mail can assure a small snowfall for everyone on your list.
I cannot but agree.

I got more of those stamps. The first one sent from... Rudolph (Ohio)!

Sunday Stamps | Waving Flags

I am not the biggest fan of flags on stamps. But I recognise that they look far better when waving:

25th Anniversary of Independence
Georgia, 2016

State flag
Lithuania, 2019

Thailand, 2010

Estonia, 2023

Sunday Stamps theme is today National Holidays, Flags.

Celebration of Bulb Plants

Postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands), which celebrates the spring. It bears a matching stamp on the back:

The stamp belongs to the sheet issued on 1st March 2024, which mark the 75th anniversary of the garden of Keukenhof, in the city of Lise. The sheet has six stamps in three different designs: tulip,  daffodil and iris. Heleen has sent them all, on different pieces of mail.

They look gorgeous all together!
