20 Years of Postcrossing (1)

I have not been a full 20 year postcrosser (only almost 17 years), and I confess I did not properly celebrate the day*. However, I am happy to see one of the most wonderful projects ever is still alive and growing in its 20th anniversary

As I was happy to get these postcards from Bryon! --Have you noticed the red postcard is also on the other one?!?

-----
*No worries: everyday is a good day to send postcards!

Calm & Postcards

This is a postcard sent by Bryon (the USA). I recognise a good piece of advice when I see one!

I think I found the right postcard to reply.

Netherlands King's Day

Postcard & matching stamp sent last year by Heleen (the Netherlands) to celebrate Koningsdag

I would have expected orange stamps to celebrate Koningsdag... And they arrived on the back of another postcard!

Keeping calm is always a good idea. And also celebrating, of course!

Keep Calm

It has been a long time since the last Keep Calm postcard I got. This was sent form Eric (the UK).

Have you noticed the Queen hidden behind the bus? I wonder why, as she was so visible on the back...

And also on three more stamps that arrived at the same time:

The colour of this stamp is,
according to Royal Mail,
gooseberry green.

Rose Cream

Sent to Gabi (the UK).

I made this postcard for the 14th Challenge of Mail a Smile. The theme for this month was Ice-cream. As usual, I made the postcard with recycled materials: cardboard from a cereal box and a nice rose-cream cut from a magazine. I added some stickers (of Alice in Wonderland), washi tape and a happy rubber-stamped sun.

Keep Calm and Watch Lighthouses

Do you know the Keep Calm-o-matic? It is a funny tool to create advices in order to stay calm. This one (not created in this site, tough) is one of the best I have heard:

Postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands).

So:

Postcard sent by Laura (the UK). It shows South Foreland white lighthouse in Dover (England, the UK).

Maxi-postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). It shows the lighthouse of Kökarsören in the Aland islands. The card is the number 61, issued on 6th June, 2008.

Postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). The name of this lighthouse isn't written on the card, but Heleen managed to find out that it is Ponta do Pargo in Madeira (Portugal).

Postcard sent by John (the UK). It shows Beachy Head Lighthouse, built in 1902 near Eastbourne, East Sussex, England.

And another postcard sent by John (the UK). It shows the lighthouse in  St. Anthony Head, situated at the southernmost tip of the Roseland Peninsula (Cornwall, UK).

Summer

Now that my summer holidays are almost finished, I want to show you two wonderful summer postcards I have got:

Sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). Another wonderful Fiep Westendorp's work!

Collage sent by Laura (the UK).

I hope your summer was/is wonderful. I use a Portuguese puzzle magazine to make these postcards for Heleen (the Netherlands):

Keep Calm and Drink Tea

Sent by Heleen (the Netherlands).

I love the keep calm themed envelope and, of course, the postal inside. In fact, this sending has a lot of elements capable to make my day: tea, snails, rubber stamps, a good advice, a long message...

Keep Calm

Two postcards sent by Laura (the UK).

Keep Calm and Carry On is a catchphase that originally appeared on a World War II-era British public safety poster. You can read a bit more about that here and here. After the rediscovery of the poster in 2000, a lot of funny parodies have appeared with altered text, colours and iconography. You can find some of them here. And, if you feel creative, you can even create your own poster in the Keep Calm-O-Matic.
