I had seen this stamp online, and Fabienne was thoughtful enough to send it to me. Plus, on a hand-made envelope that perfectly match with the theme.

French Salads Named After French Women
By Naz Şahin Özcan, 2015
|
Postcard received from Helen (Russia), through the Postcrossing site. I was surprised it was written in Spanish! I am posting also the back because of the nice postmark and the also delicious stamp featuring a pineapple.
As you can see, it includes the recipe of the pancake... in Russian, of course.

Delicious Postcards
One thing I love to learn about, through the Postcrossing postcards, is food from different countries!
On the back of this postcard, there is a useful recipe. It was sent by a Russian postcrosser who is living in Australia. How many countries on a piece of paper!
Traditional Japanese food:
Left up: Tempura (Fried seafood and vegetables);
Left down: Japanese Style Cakes;
Right up: Sushi Rice Balls topped with sliced raw fish;
Right down: Sashimi dish of slice raw fish.
There must be something of those inside the Japanese fridge that appears on this collage postcard made by my friend Laura (the UK)...
Christmas cookies from Germany (this arrived just before Christmas).
Stroopwafel from the Netherlands, sent by Miranda. I have tried them, so maybe I should add the label "places I have been to" to this post...
Not sure about what are they eating on this postcard that arrived from Taiwan, but I believe it is delicious as well...

Repurposing: Free Postcards
I picked up these free postcards in a restaurant in Barcelona. I think they weren't intended to be sent, but to inform people about Vietnamese food (Which was delicious, by the way!). But they looked a beautiful artwork to me. And they even included a recipe on the back!
So I took two and sent them to Bryon (the USA) and Heleen (the Netherlands).
Do you like to get free or repurposed postcards?

Sweet Orange Postcards
Postcard sent by Naomi (Australia). I think these postcards (sold here, in case you are wondering) are an original idea that can save you time: you just need to tick on the right options.
I was thinking of drawing my own designs... But, of course, that wouldn't save me time!
Sometimes mail arrives in couples... and I received also a recipe postcard, an orange cake, from Fabienne (France). I still have to try it!

Delicious Postcards
This weekend's theme in Maria's link is Happiness/Joy. It is easy to associate joy with your beloved ones around a table, don't you think so?
This postcard arrived from India through the Postcrossing site (another source of joy!). The sender didn't write a lot, but there is a very nice explanation on the back about the dishes on the picture. It starts with: Every region in India has a wonderful tale to tell... So much to learn here!

Koningssoep
Sent by Heleen (the Netherlands), on 27th April, birthday of the prince.
It was made of a package with fresh orange ingredients for the Koningssoep (='King soup') invented for this 30th April, when the queen passed her job to her son (the first king since 1890!). I love the idea that Koningsdag (='King's Day', formerly Koninginnedag or 'Queen's Day') is an opportunity for Oranjegekte (='orange craze'): people decorate houses, cars, shops and entire streets in orange colour, wear orange clothing and even dye their hair! I must be there one year!
I love the festive decorations on the postcard. And did you noticed the royal stamps with the queens Beatrix and Juliana?
