Lighthouses from France

Sent by Catherine and Fabienne (France).

And this postcard, featuring some places I visited long ago, in Brittany (France), made me think of this other card sent by Fabienne...

C'est à moi ? Ça!... (='Is this mine? This!')

Music City & Music Mail

The Tennessee postcard I uploaded the day before yesterday arrived together with this one sent by Phillip (the USA), celebrating the music city... with the most appropriate stamps:

Actually, it is not unusual to get musical mail. This postcard was sent by Pawel (Poland), is a poem for children to learn the alphabet in Kashubian language.

On this envelope send by Micu (Hungary), there is a stamp that celebrates Veszprém as a 2023 European Capital of Culture.

Sunday Stamps | Calligraphy

Some stamps featuring beautiful calligraphy for today's Sunday Stamps:
French stamp designed by the (mail) artist Benjamin Vautier, aka Ben, and issued in 2011. It belongs to the series Les timbres de Ben:

The following Thank You stamps were issued in 2020. They were designed by the calligrapher Dana Tanamachi, who drew the original sketches by hand. The script is highlighted in gold foil.

The stamp below features the American writer Carl Sandburg, as well as his signature:

And to see the penmanship of another writer and artist, two stamps depicting Edward Lear's work: Edward Lear as a bird (Self-portrait) and a Cat from an alphabet book. This four-stamps set was issued in 1988.

Alphabet 2023

One of the mail delights of 2023 has been the Alphabet 2023 project created by Bryon. Thanks to the collaboration of the chaotic postal services, it started with letter C (so I didn't understood at first). After a while, everything ran smoothly. Except when I decided to disappear into the postal system and Bryon re-sent it; or when five letters showed up together.

Every postcard arrived with matching stamps. Not easy to find them. Especially for letters like X! You can see here all the postcards. Every one has been sent from an American or Canadian city whose name starts with the due letter: Atka, Barrière, Coloma... and so on. Including an E postcard sent form Eva and an U postcard sent from the United Nations in New York. In most cases, even the name of the state matches the postcard: Dagsboro (Delaware), Good Hope (Georgia), Flagler Beach (Florida), Independence (Iowa), Kuttawa (Kentucky), etc.
Just let me know if you are aware of a cooler postal project!

Alphabet 2023 | Z Is for Zion

And on 5 December the last postcard of the Alphabet 2023 project arrived!
Do you think finding Z stamps is too hard? Bryon did: Zebrafish and Zion National Park in Utah (stamps from 1934 & 2009).

Alphabet 2023 | Y is for Yellville

This is postcard Y of Bryon's project Alphabet 2023. This one travelled from Yellville (Arkansas). With the best array of y-stamps you could find!

Can you believe there is only one letter left?!? (Spoiler: Already arrived!)

Alphabet 2023 | X Is for Xenia

This is always the more difficult letter to solve in every alphabet. But, of course, Bryon did it for the Alphabet 2023 project to advance!

It was sent from Xenia, Ohio --It was another riddle to answer, but an easy one thanks to the ZIP code.

I have not have the slightest idea what a Computer generated aerodynamic study of an X-plane is, but I am pretty sure that this is the best X stamp in the world.

Alphabet 2023 | W Is for Wamsutter

This was a difficult one! The W postcard of the Alphabet 2023 project was sent from Wamsutter, Wyoming.

Who knew there are two stamps dedicated to the Wyoming toad, issued 27 years apart (1996-2023)?

Alphabet 2023 | U is for United Nations

The U postcard of the Alphabet 2023 came from the United Nations Headquarters in New York, as you see on the colourful stamps.

The postal services did not spare postmarks: 27 September, 2 October, 3 October... (?). In any case, it took more than five weeks to arrive.

22 November 2023

Alphabet 2023 | T Is for Tullahoma

It is time for T, sent from Tullahoma, Tennessee! As usual, with matching stamps, two of them issued 50 years apart!
150th anniversary of Tennessee Statehood

Tennessee Statehood Bicentennial

Thank you

Actually, thank you, Bryon, for this fab project!

Five Letters

The rhythm of mail is being erratic this season. For unknown reasons, I suffered from a mail drought last month: no mail at all between 3 and 26 October, when a huge pile of due postcards, letters and magazines landed in my mailbox (mailbag, actually).

Then, other ten days or so without no mail... And, suddenly, five postcards from the Alphabet 2023 project arrived together, despite of having been sent in the span of several weeks.

I cannot believe only two letters are left!

Alphabet 2023 | S Is for Sacramento

Another letter for the Alphabet 2023 project! It is time for an intricate S, with a beautiful array of matching stamps on the back:

Skylab

Sylvester

Sea Cucumber

San Francisco garter snake

Seeing for me
(German shepherd)

The last one did not survived the postal machines, alas. Below there is an image I found on the net:
