Frida Kahlo is one of those artists I have become interested in thanks to mail. So far, I have received five different postcards and I am more fascinated every day.

I made an envelope for Phillip (the USA) using a free colouring illustration by Rachel Ignotofsky (you can get it here). It arrived safe and sound.

More Greek Wisdom

The letter above and the stamp below arrived the same day: the first from the UK, the later from Hungary. Until now, I hadn't realised that some owls take their scientific name from the Greek Goddess Athena, associated with wisdom.

On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring is a tone poem composed in 1912 by Frederick Delius; it was first performed in Leipzig on 23 October 1913. In 1985 Royal mail dedicated a delicious 4-stamps set to British Composers.
