Thursday Postcard Hunt | Metro Art

This is the Universidad de Chile metro station. It features a 1200 square metre mural called Memoria visual de una nación (='Visual Memory of a Nation'), painted by Mario Toral.

Wood engraved design by David Gentleman (1979) for the Northern Line platforms in Charing Cross tube stations, depicting the construction of the original Eleanor Cross (1291-1294).

Sunday Stamps | M for Mines

Different types of mines for the letter M of Sunday Stamps:

This stamp was issued in Chile on 30 October 2013, to commemorate the rescue of 33 miners after the Copiapó mining accident. It shows the rescue capsule. The stamp belongs to a serie of six stamps.

Stamps issued on 20 February 2015, that commemorates the 70th Anniversary of the Mine Clearing Service in France.

The St Agnes Mining District is that part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounding the village of St Agnes, Cornwall (the UK). It contains Wheal Coates tin mine, and Blue Hills, which is the only surviving tin production centre in the United Kingdom. This stamp was issued in 1989, and belongs to the 4-stamps series Industrial Architecture.

Commemorative Chilean Stamp

Today Sunday Stamps-II's theme is Commemorative. I have chosen an stamp from a country I don't receive mail often: Chile. This stamp was issued on 30 October 2013, to commemorate the rescue of 33 miners after the Copiapó mining accident.

It shows the rescue capsule.The stamp belongs to a serie of six stamps. I have only received this one, but at least two of them come with very unusual designs:

The names of the 33 men

The note they sent from the refuge
'We are fine in the refuge -the 33'

Travel Diary on Postcards

This postcard from Puerto Varas with a little scratch (the odd cloud in the middle) is part of the project Snail Mail Diary. It was written on December 29, 2014; sent on January 14, 2015; pictured and posted one week later; and finally arrived in Morocco on February 9.

I am happy to have contributed to this project. But also I feel a bit like FinnBadger...

I felt like answering with another blue postcard:

This is the village of Chaouen or Chefchaouen (الشاون/شفشاون), one hour far from home, more or less.

This Morning in My Mail Box

Sometimes it seems that I am on a diet of mail. Then, suddenly, the mail system goes crazy... (or must I say "goes postal"?).
