Tusello

Tusello is a service that allow you to turn your images into Correos stamps. There are some restrictions regarding images of people, but most illustrations are permitted. So, if you are willing to pay the extra fee, you can design your own stamps and even appear on them.

I got this stamp from a pen pal who works as a postal deliverer. She received the stamps as a gift for her 50 birthday. How cool is that?

These four envelopes arrived together some time ago, although they were supposed to be spaced-out along one month. They contained a birthday present.

150 Years of the UPU

On 9 October 1874, 22 countries gathered to sign the Treaty of Bern, creating the General Postal Union, which would later become known as the Universal Postal Union. A century and a half later, the UPU now unites the postal networks of 192 member countries, having realized its founders’ vision of establishing a single postal territory to serve people everywhere.

The UPU’s theme for its 150th year – “150 years of enabling communication and empowering peoples across nations” – recognizes this accomplishment, and reinforces its commitment to serve all peoples for the decades and centuries to come.

(From UPU's website)

Throughout 2024, the UPU has been rolling out a series of events and campaigns in celebration. Among them, the issue of commemorative stamps by country members.

Bryon sent me this one from the New York UN's post office, printed by himself.

Randomly Thinking of You

I got the rest of these stamps. They still strike me as a random pile of strange things nicely arranged (a pink cat? a sticking-plaster?). I feel better now that I know that, what I thought to be a vulcano, is actually a birthday hat!

According with the USPS site, these are not just random illustrations:
Capturing the excitement and delight of receiving a card in the mail meant just for you, Thinking of You features five stamps in a pane of 20 and a host of die-cut, self-adhesive messages — perfect to accompany letters or cards sent to brighten someone’s day. Each stamp is designed in fun colors with different whimsical images, including flowers, balloons, cute animals, sweet treats and symbols of good luck. Words of encouragement and thoughtful affirmations surround the stamps on the pane. Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamps with original artwork by Ellen Surrey.

Wood Postcard

I am not sure you can appreciate it on the picture, but this postcard is made of wood. And quite thin, so I was surprised that it arrived safe and sound after a 4-week travel from the USA (sent by Phillip).

Two of the stamps of the back belong to the Thinking of You sheet, issued in August this year.

It is a curious design, don't you think? According with the USPS site, these are not random illustrations:
The pane of 20 Thinking of You stamps features five unique designs filled with a variety of whimsical images, including flowers, balloons cute animals, sweet treats, and symbols of good luck. Capturing the excitement and delight of receiving a card in the mail meant just for you.
I guess you can fins something you like in every stamp. And I agree: it is a real delight to receive a piece of mail meant just for you!

Drawing the Summer - I

Sent to Heleen (the Netherlands). Probably this drawing only makes sense to the recipient...

I am happy to see it travelled well.
