(In)equality Stamps

Drawn envelope sent to Heleen (the Netherlands).

Maybe you wonder about those Pantone-like stamps. I sent some more:

They belong to a campaign against racial discrimination. In May 2021, Correos launched Equality Stamps to reflect "an unjust reality that should not exist, in an effort to raise awareness of diversity, inclusion and equal rights". (See the video here).

The idea behind is that you must used more black stamps than "white" ones. But what the users read was: the darker the colour, the smaller the face value. The campaign received a lot of criticism, and the stamps were withdrawn from the market almost immediately.

Sunday Stamps | 20,000 Leagues

I have got two of these Hungarian stamps, dedicated to Captain Nemo and the 150th Anniversary of the publication of Jules Verne's novel Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea.

The stamps were issued on 5 April 2019. This is the 4-stamps sheet:

I thought these stamps would fit in today's Sunday Stamps, dedicated to Transportation.

I posted here about a postcard that took almost ten months to arrive in Spain from the UK. And now...

Can you read the postmark on the stamps above?: 20 July. They were stuck on the back of another British postcard and arrived yesterday: 23 July. Barely three days (?!?).

This toucan is defending its right to a corner in the shadow. I drew it on this envelope and sent it to Heleen (the Netherlands).

(As I forgot to take a picture before posting, I have taken it from one of Heleen's blogs.)

Sunday Stamps | 1900s

Although I have already published some of these received stamps, this series came immediately to my mind when I read today's topic for Sunday Stamps: Issued in the 1900s.

The stamps were issued in 1998 under the title Celebrate the Century. Ten sheets of fifteen different stamps were issues, which each sheet depicting events of one decade of the 20th century, from the 1900s to 1990s. You find here the complete list of stamps.

I have got just a sample of these:

1900s: Dawn of the Twentieth Century

St. Louis World's Fair

1910s: America Looks Beyond its Borders

Child Labor Reform

1920s: The Roaring Twenties

The Great Gatsby

Flappers Do The Charleston

Jazz
