Bird on Tree

I have received this pictorial postmark several times... But I love how perfectly the bird is perched on the tree in this one!

Thursday Postcard Hunt | Young Animal

Thursday Postcard Hunt
March theme: ANIMALS

• Week 1 - In the Wild
• Week 2 - On the Farm
• Week 3 - Pets
• Week 4 - Young

-----------------------------------------------

Eduard (Russia) sent it by mail, but this is not a conventional postcard, and I am not even sure Чебурашка is a conventional animal (A bear cub? A hare with large ears? A monkey?). It was created by writer Eduard Uspensky in 1966 (I hope it does not mean he is not young any more!) as one of the main characters in the book Gena the Crocodile and His Friends and its sequels.

There are two versions: on the stamp, as he appeared in the cartoon Crocodile Gena in 1969, created with the direct participation of the film's production designer, Leonid Shvartsman. On the cardboard, as it was reimagined for the 2023 film.

Pure Love

Love is when the postal services love you so much that they allow you to send mail without stamps! Or maybe that is how it works in Wonderland.

(It was not intentional: the sender just forgot to add the stamps. The envelope, made of a big playing card, arrived safe and sound from the USA, and no further payment was required.)

Early Valentine

This is the earliest Valentine's postcard I have ever got: it arrived on 22 February 2024!

Love from... Romance

Mail sent by Phillip (the USA), with matching stamps and a very nice pictorial postmark. And this is the second time I get mail from Romance, Arizona!

Non-Halloween Mail

Actually, cat-related mail. But it includes one of the Halloween USA stamps (from 2019). I am afraid that USPS does not issue any Halloween stamp this year.

And some non-Halloween crows that arrived together, on letters from Catherine (France ) and Laura (the UK):

Count the Hearts!

This piece of mail was drawn, written and posted on 14 February last year. I hope Heleen (the Netherlands) does not mind it had not appeared on the blog until today.

I love there are so many hearts on it --and clovers, with four hearts on each! But, of course, what I love the most is the hand-drawn selfie:

And the matching stamps are a big plus that make it perfect!

(Yes, I know I am supposed to scratch these to discover the message...).
