France, 2024. Booklet of 8 stamps on the theme of Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin and the theater of the same name. 

Netherlands, 2011. From a set of stamps commemorating the 100 Years of Circus Herman Renz.

Spain, 2018. Stamp commemorating 250th anniversary of the circus. The stamp reproduces an engraving from 1768 entitled: Horse Riding Exercise, by Bernardo Albiztur y Tornaria, currently held in the National Library of Spain.

USA, 1980. 100th birthday of William Claude Dukenfield - W.C. Fields (1880 - 1946).

A comment on this post made me think of circus as the C theme for this round of A-Z Sunday Stamps. 

This is a favourite theme, and I had already published some circus stamps. For example, here (EUROPA stamps 2002), here (Barnum and Bailey Circus), here (White clowns) and here (Circus stamps and postcards from Monaco).

Mail Monsters Are the Worst

I think I would like it more if the nickname of Virginia on the postcard had been Mother of Presidents. Also clearer postmarks and undamaged stamps would have been better welcomed. But the postal machines (or the mail monsters) have no mercy on the poor flag stamps of the States Project!

States Project | The Volunteer State

This is the first of the States Project postcards sent by Bryon that bears a 2025 postmark: 2 January 2025, and it arrived on 23 January 2025 (along with other 7 delayed postcards!).

I would always associate Tennessee with music, but other facts caught my attention, like Dollywood, S'mores (without the mess?), the nickname The Volunteer State...

The new destination of Bryon's States Project takes us to Oregon. Do you think there are more beavers than wine and cheese? 

As you can see, I am a bit delayed in uploading these postcards to the blog, and this one bears a Christmas postmark --on the front, for some reason.

The Mail Monsters Never Sleep

The Mail Monsters battered this letter sent by Phillip (the USA). Fortunately, they were satisfied with the envelope and left alone the contents!

Also the stamp arrived safe and sound, luckily.

States Project | The Empire State

A new postcard from Bryon's States Project, probably from one of the best known states of the USA. It is always nice to get a postcard featuring a (sort of) lighthouse.

About the project, all the postcards were sent in 2024. Not all have landed yet: 5 postcards left to arrive!

States Project | The Silver State

The States Project postcard for Nevada. I wonder why the state with the large gold mine in the USA is called The Silver State.

And I wonder, again... Why the mail monsters hate these flag stamps so much?

States Project | Land of 10,000 Lakes

Have you missed them? I have! But one month ago eight of Bryon's States Project postcards landed together.

There is always a lot to discover in these postcards. For instance, the Minneapolis Skyway System or the Honeycrisp Apple.

And, definitely, the mail monsters do not love those flag stamps!

States Project | The Great Lakes State

I know Michigan is a big state but... 129 lighthouses? That sounds like paradise to me!

The first you notice when you look at Maryland is its odd shape. And then, that the postal machines do not like the flag stamp!

Maybe because it reflects a non accurate colour?
