Halloween Time

Tonight, upon your pillow
Close your eyes and hide your head,
For the fairies and the goblins
Will be hovering round your bed.
A traditional Halloween postcard sent by Bryon (the USA). I am glad it arrived on time!

And another one sent by Phillip (the USA). The stamps with the vilains are perfect for a scary card!

If you want something really frightening... What about these real mummies? The postcard show a mummies museum in Guanajuato (Mexico). On the picture, there is supposed to be the smallest mummy in the world.

As a curiosity, the postcard arrived with this paper attached (with a staple). I had never seen a customs declarations form for a postcard.

The postcard was sent on 11 August, and arrived on 26 October.

Sunday Stamps | Bikes

Today's theme is Sunday Stamps is Motion. I don't know why, but I thought immediately of bikes.

Postal bikes, as in this series from the UK:

The post is delivered by bike all around the world: Hungary, Mexico...

But bikes aren't only for postal workers. It is for all kind of people: the milkman (I mean, when there were milkmen...), students, elegant couples, shoppers, athletes...

Bikes are for all kind of people! Even for... other people:

Had you realised how often bikes appear on stamps?!?

Sunday Stamps | Postworld Landmarks

Today's theme in Sunday Stamps is Commemorative. It is difficult to choose among the many stamps that commemorate all kind of people and events!

I went for post-related important milestones commemorated by different countries:

For instance, the 500th anniversary of Royal Mail. I think I had already uploaded other stamps from this serie. More information here.

A stamp commemorating the 50 years of the establishment of postal codes in Belgium was issued on 18 March 2019:

On 1 August 2016, Correos de Mexico commemorated the 160th Anniversary of the First Mexican Postage Stamps. They came in five colours (according to the rate), and featured the image of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a leader of the War of Independence:

It gave me an idea to look for more stamps related to the theme Universe, for the letter U of Sunday Stamps.
