Sunday Stamps | U(nited Nations)

I received these letters months ago, sent by Phillip through the United Nations postal system. Both sets of stamps promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted at the 2015 UN Summit.

The stamps above were issued on 24 October 2016, and sent from New York (the USA). You can see the whole set here. Have you noticed that pretty postmark?

The letter below arrived from Vienna. The Smurfs stamps were launched to celebrate the International Day of Happiness on 20 March 2017. They want "to encourage people to take action to protect the planet and promote a peaceful and just world", with the slogan Even a small Smurf can make a big difference!

I am adding this post to Sunday Stamps-II, for the letter U.

Kind Human Project

I found on Twitter (see also on Instagram) this project by Alice and Mabel:
we post awkward drawings of funny humans like all of us to people that want them. a project about random acts of kindness
So I asked for a human, and same days after she (the #314!) landed in my mailbox, beautifully drawn:

I thought it would be nice to send another human back...

But I took a picture of them together before sending:

A Tricky Postcard...

... because Bryon didn't sent it from Paris, but from the USA. Also, because it isn't a normal postcard. It is a free one from a restaurant in Portland (Oregon), intended to be left at the restaurant with the customer comments about the food and service. But it would be a pity not to sent it!

Although the postmark on the front side seems to be part of the design, it is the real one. And also that little scratch.

Winter Is Here

Postcard sent by John (UK). It arrived perfectly timed for the start of the winter season...

Update: I added this post to Maria's link Postcards for the Weekend, for the theme Winter Scenes.

Warmest Wishes

This pop-up card was sent by Phillip (the USA) last year. Happily it arrived on time for Christmas, and was displayed (at my parents') during the holidays. I think I am going to take it out again this year...

Sunday Stamps | T(extile)

Today Sunday Stamps-II is dedicated to the letter T. I have chosen stamps related to the textile world.

Self-adhesive stamps dedicated to a theme that I find curious: Flowers and artistic professions (Fleurs et métiers-d'art), issued by La Poste (France) the last spring, as a 12-stamps set (See here the complete set). They show details of artistic objects from museums. On the stamp in the left you can see an embroidered flower made of cotton and silk yarn.

Stamps from Croatia, issued on 30 September 2008. They are dedicated to the Croatian Ethnografic heritage. See here the 5 stamps of the sheetlet.

Traditional Portuguese Embroideries. I have received two of the six stamps (see here), issued in 2011.

One of the latest country definitives issued by Royal Mail, issued on 21 March 2017, symbolising Scotland.

Self-adhesive stamp from Brazil, issued on 30 December 2005, designed by Hector Consani. Dedicated to different professions, this one for the dressmakers.
