Sunday Stamps | Bikes

Today's theme is Sunday Stamps is Motion. I don't know why, but I thought immediately of bikes.

Postal bikes, as in this series from the UK:

The post is delivered by bike all around the world: Hungary, Mexico...

But bikes aren't only for postal workers. It is for all kind of people: the milkman (I mean, when there were milkmen...), students, elegant couples, shoppers, athletes...

Bikes are for all kind of people! Even for... other people:

Sunday Stamps | Lions

Today's theme in Sunday Stamps is Lions or Lambs. Not having found any lamb... I went for lions! (Sorry for a couple of blurry pictures.)

The lion Nila is the games mascot. His name is probably derived from Sang Nila Utama, a Hindu prince who landed on the island Temasek, saw an animal and was informed it was a lion. So he the city Singapura which means 'Lion City' in Sanskrit.

Spain, 9 November 2018. 40 Years of the Constitution.
In the foreground, the stamp depicts one of the lions that stand at the entrance to the Spanish Parliament, resting on the logo created for this occasion. Around the sculpture, a diagram of the layout of the Congress, with the seats in foil, invites people to join in the celebration.

United Kingdom, 6 May 2010. London 2010 - Festival of Stamps.
This stamp is a reproduction of the Great Britain's first commemorative stamps which were issued on 23 April 1924 - the first day of the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley (More information here.)

Postcard received from Helen (Russia), through the Postcrossing site. I was surprised it was written in Spanish! I am posting also the back because of the nice postmark and the also delicious stamp featuring a pineapple.

As you can see, it includes the recipe of the pancake... in Russian, of course.

Women on Stamps | E for Early Education for Girls

This stamp, designed by Lim An-ling, was issued on 11 October 2018, and belongs to a set of four that you can see here.

This is the description of the stamps on the Singapore Post site:

Nineteenth-century Singapore was a vibrant commercial centre. But beneath the prosperity, Singapore remained undeveloped in many areas including education. There was little public demand for formal education and the government in British India at that time was unwilling to channel money into developing education, much less the education of girls.

This stamp issue depicts the early education and skills that girls received in Singapore.
