Chain Postcard

A chain card (or chain postcard) is a postcard that travels to different people. Each of them sticks stamps about a previously agreed theme, erase the address (or cover it), and then sends it to the next person in the chain. Eventually, the card makes it back to the first sender. 

I have never participated in an exchange like this. Mostly, because I usually don't have a wide range of stamps to choose from. 

But my friend Heleen usually does. In her Instagram account you can see several examples.

She sent me this card that has travelled in 6 countries and 3 continents: Netherlands > USA > China > Taiwan > South Korea > Russia > Netherlands. And all this within half a year: from 27 February 2018 to 23 August 2018.

Multiples on Postcards

Many-of-the-same-thing or multiples is a favourite topic for some postcard collectors, and also a favourite of mine.

These postcards have been send by my friend Laura (the UK). A postcard of postcards... isn't it a great idea? By the way, this is not the reproduction of a picture, but an stunning oil painting.

Lighthouses from a Big Trip

Mukho Lighthouse in Donghae (South Korea). Not a country I receive a lot of mail from! The stamp, or label, also caught my attention:

Tokarevsky (Токаревского) Lighthouse, in Vladivostok. Despite its modest size, this is one of Russia's best known lighthouses. It is named for Capt. M.J. Tokarev, whose ship surveyed the area in 1862-63.

The postcard features the main entrance to the Changdeokung Palace in Seoul. It is in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997.

One fact about receiving postcards from Postcrossers is that sometimes it arrives a postcard from a very far away place, kike South Korea. By the way: there are only 5 postcrossers in North Korea and it is no easy to visit that country. So I'm afraid I have few chances to get a postcard from there!.
