Christmas Postmarks

  2. It is interesting to see old postmarks brought back. Most of the year we get inkjet cancellations like the top two but at Christmas the sorting offices are so busy they resurrect old disused machines like the third one with "Merry Christmas from the Post Office". The Post Office has been separate from Royal Mail for years!

    1. Not so old. The first one, received just yesterday. The second and the third, in 2016.

By the way... Nice to see you here, Alan! :)

    2. Hello Eva, season's greetings!
I know the third one was from 2016, but the slogan postmark is from about 20 years ago, in a style which shows it was printed by an old pre-inkjet machine, brought out of retirement for the Christmas rush.

    3. Thanks for the extra information. I guess the slogans don't change a lot year after year. At least the "Post early for Christmas" (that always arrive late...). I just added two more postmarks that I got today. The last one not very clear, I must say.
