Pas un aquarium

Ceci n'est pas un aquarium
This wonderful letter was sent from Keith to 30 (I guess) orange lovers. Actually, in the middle of the Autumn. But, as it said... Every day is a good day to celebrate orange! It took a bit to post here, but I replied the letter ages ago. I love every bit of the letter: the postcard, the French, the typewritten address... But, of course, the artistamps are a super gift!

  3. I so much love this aquarium / no aquarium picture!
In Dutch we have a saying: to keep a carrot before someone. Which means: to try to make someone do a certain act/thing, by seducing him/her with something he/she likes (a figurative carrot), but which the person probably won't get.

And from this a kind of new (not yet widespread) saying arose: 'the carrot or the stick', wich means, you can make someone do a certain thing by either seducing/the kind way, or by force/the hard way.

    1. If this saying also exists in English (does it?), I am curious to know what the person who kept the carrot before the fish, wanted the fish to do :-)

    2. We have those expressions too.
But, anyway, if this is not an aquarium... Shy do you thing these are a carrot and a fish? ;)

    3. The carrot or the stick is a well-known expression in English. I believe that in German, the carrot is replaced by a sausage :)

    4. Not among vegetarian German people, of course ;)
