Today's theme in Sunday Stamps is Birds. I have quite a few in my collection, so today I chose two cousin birds from different countries, whose illustrations I really like.
Western capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) Switzerland, 1968 |
![]() |
Sharp-tailed grouse (Tympanuchus phasianellus) Canada, 2016 |
I love that you chose related birds on stamps from different countries. The Canadian one is very dramatic!
ReplyDeleteCanadian people know how to portrait nature!
DeleteLook at the claws on those birds! Yikes!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteBeautiful birds! I have never heard of them :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like these stamps.
DeleteThose are both nice! The first reminds me of a turkey, which makes sense, as they are big birds and are hunted for food. I'll buy my turkey at the store, thank you very much! The second is a beautiful illustration.
ReplyDeleteThey seem a bit like a turkey, you're right.
DeleteI dream of seeing a capercaillie in real life.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen one, either.
DeleteThe Canadian grouse looks as though it has a short temper:) What a great action packed illustration.
ReplyDeleteThe whole series is wonderful.
