Sunday Stamps | Chequered

Chess is a common topic for philatelists, but I found only these among my received ones. Go to Sunday Stamps to see more Patterns on stamps!

United Kingdom, 1976

France, 1966

And the same pattern in a stamp belonging to the series The Secret of Life. And also apt for the Year of the Snake!

  1. I did not know that chess was a common theme - I don't believe I have any, but now, I will look. The 'snakes and ladders' one is great :)

    1. I've seen collections of chess stamps online. Maybe it's most a thing of the past, I don't know.

  2. Interesting stamps. I never saw any chess themed stamps before. They are all beautiful, especially the “chutes and ladders” or “DNA and caduceus snake” stamp. 😉

    1. The illustration on the last one is very clever. I have got this stamp several times, and I love it.
