Today's theme in
Sunday Stamps is
Post War Architecture. I hope this stamp fits in!
The
Vasco da Gama Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Tagus river, near Lisbon (Portugal). With its 12,3 km length, it is the second longest bridge in Europe. Its construction started in 1995 and finished in 1998.
The stamp was issued on 9 May 2018, as the Portuguese EUROPA stamp for the theme
Bridges.
It looks so elegant (especially where the cables are) but no way would I enjoy the 12.5km drive over it!
ReplyDeleteWhy not? ;)
Deletemore for my dizzying fear of heights and not being able to see land while moving so fast than for safety reasons!
DeleteWhen you cross a bridge like this one, you can feel the movement (especially if you stopped). That is amazing and scary at the same time!
DeleteMarvelous piece of engineering. Perfect name, those cables could be sails.
ReplyDeleteIt seems so, seen from afar.
DeleteBeautifully designed stamp.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
