This monster letter sent by Phillip (the USA) landed in my mailbox two weeks ago. (Well, actually, it didn't: I had to go to the post office to retrieve it.)

DeleteThe number is for them to find it in the post office, when you go to retrieve it. So it was probably added by the postman, to the parcel and the note he left.
