Dutch Lions

After reading this post about lions on stamps, Heleen realised a gap in my collection: Dutch lions! So she sent these stamps:

Plus, the lions on the envelope. Plus... a (sea)lion inside!

  1. Glad it arrived well!
It is funny to see the results of the soccer matches in the gutters. I wonder if many other countries would publish lost matches so prominently :-)

And I always am wondering why we have lions in our coats of arms (where this lion is taken from). As far as I know the lion is not native, while we owe cows a lot, so it would be better to replace the lions by cows!

    1. Publishing also the defeats speaks well of the country, really.

I've never seen a cow on a coat of arms, but it makes sense!

      Thanks for the letter!
