The title of this postcard is: The crocodiles' audition to become nativity animals was not going well.

Windows to the World

This postcard shows a traditional Russian window casing (1, Muzeyny proezd, Alexandrov, Russia). It is an artwork by Vasily Osipovich Zhabin. But the picture was taken by the sender, Eduard, and it won a photo contest for the most beautiful casing in the Vladimir region in 2015 (If I understand well the back of the postcard!). 

For more that ten years, Eduard has been running the mail art project Windows to the World. Maybe you can consider to send a window, too:

Post Office in Santander

A friend sent this picture from his holidays. It shows the main post office in Santander (Spain), built between 1918 and 1926, and still in use.

Not sure if you can appreciate it from this picture, but there is one of the beautiful lion post boxes.

Signs of Spring

A mother black bear gives birth to one to four cubs in the winter, and they will emerge together from den in April or May. Curbs start practicing climbing trees as soon as they are strong enough, which is important because they are not fast enough to outrun predators. Black bears are most active at dawn and dusk, but can sometimes be seen mid-day. Look for them in open spaces within or near forested areas.

23 April: Stop and Smell the Roses

23 April is Sant Jordi ('Saint George’s Day'), and also the UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day, when love and literature are celebrated massively throughout the Catalan countries and, more and more, in many other places around the world. The exchange of books and roses (#BooksAndRoses) is turning into a worldwide phenomenon.

I got last week a couple of Sant Jordi-related stamps (unintentionally?):

Letter from Alan (the UK)

The White Ensign, at one time called the St George's Ensign due to the simultaneous existence of a cross-less version of the flag, is an ensign worn on British Royal Navy ships and shore establishments. It consists of a red St George's Cross on a white field with the Union Flag in the upper canton. The stamp belongs to a set issuet on 22 October 2001.

This is the decorated back of a big postcard sent by John (the UK). The miniature sheet was issued on 6 May 2010, under the title Celebrating the Accession of King George V for London 2010 Festival of Stamps. 

And a letter from Fabienne (France) wore a stamp I was really happy to get. Issued on 12 April this year, it celebrates the 75 anniversary of Le Petit Prince ('The Little Prince').

If you have read the book, or know the story, you can see a rose in the Little Prince's hands... And you realise that the stamp on the left is a perfect match!

Oh, and I sent some dragons & roses, too!

Lettres d'Alice

Lettres d'Alice is a project that combines mail, literature and voyages. 

It is a subscription service: once a month, the subscribers get an illustrated letter which narrates an adventure of a curious young traveller, named Alice. Plus, a little souvenir: a postcard, a recipe, etc. The letters are written in French, and you can also offer them as a gift. 

The beginning of the project was a bit troubled, because it started at the same time as the pandemic. The first letter was due to arrive in March, but finally I get it in June. 

Then, I got the same letter again (?!). Plus, it was about Morocco. I confess I would have preferred a more exotic place to me!

But, overall, it works well and the letters are interesting. A nice surprise in the mailbox each month!
