Eid Mubarak

Today  (+/- 1 day) is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide: عيد الاضحى (Eid al-Adha). So I wish you عيد مبارك if you celebrate this festival.

In fact, I received this card for the other big Muslim festival: عيد الفطر (Eid al-Fitr), but I had not time to publish it. Mail is not so fast between Pakistan and Morocco, you know.

I was surprised by the way my friend put the stamps on the envelope:

Cars on Stamps

The theme for Sunday Stamps #142 is Cars. I have discovered I have just three stamps about cars in my collections, but I want to share them anyway!

Miffy

I confess I have never read the books of Miffy (Nijntje in the original Dutch) when I was a child. I'm not sure if I read any book by Dick Bruna, indeed. But I bought these books for some children, and I just can't help loving this little she-rabbit! Miffy always makes my day when I find her in my mail box.

I received these postcards long time ago, but I had never posted them. Here another postcard and the wonderful stamps of Miffy I have received more than once (these below also sent by Heleen):

More Camels

I thought I was supposed to send camels from Morocco, not to receive them... Anyway, I just love these postcards.

Lighthouses from Canada

Handmade envelope sent by Lilli (Canada), with awesome matched stamps. It was a perfect mail for a lighthouse lover, because it contained nothing but three postcards of Canadian lighthouses:

Fisgard Lighthouse overlooks the Strait of Juan de Fuca, in the Fond Rock Hill National Historic Park (in Victoria, British Columbia).

The current lighthouse (now for sale!!) was built in 1912, situated at the entancre to Burrard Inlet (Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver, British Columbia). This is the same lighthouse on the envelope.

This lighthouse was established in 1906 in Merry island, over Welcome Pass.

Postal Society

Postal Society is a site for mail addicts from all over the world. It was launched on May 3rd 2013 by Fab (aka WreckThisGirl), Natalie Brooke and Andie.

You can join Postal Society for free. The only requisites are being over 13 and a creative snail-mailer. You can find there penpals, join swaps, creative challenges...

Family Sending VQR

March on Washington

I have recently got this stamps from Postmuse, and they immediately caught my attention (besides their beauty). Especially the one in the centre.

I look for some information and I found that it was issued on August 23rd, 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. On August 28, 1963, more than 250,000 people participated in a march on Washington to promote jobs and equal rights. It was an inspirational demonstration for freedom. The highlight was the Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The stamps shows marchers against the background of the Washington Monument.

The 80ies

Sent to Katarina (Hungary).

I made this collage to participate in the challenge #8 of Mail a Smile (see the gallery!). The theme was the 80ies, so I chose Naranjito, the mascot for the 1982 FIFA World Cup, hold in Spain. As all the children in those days, I felt in love with this little orange!

But I sent also this postcard of Madonna (made of bar codes of her CDs. Amazing, isn't it?), and an envelope with 80ies colours made of wrapping paper.

By the way, the theme for the Challenge #9 is Spain. You can participate until October 31st.

Snail Mail my Email is a collaborative art project where volunteers handwrite stranger's emails and sent physical letters to the intended recipients, free of charge.

The project was created in 2011 by artist Ivan Cash, during which 234 volunteers collectively sent 10,457 letters to 70 countries. Those letters inspired the book Snail Mail My Email.

So far, a total of 431 volunteers have artistically interpreted and collectively sent 13,968 letters across the world.
