Spot the Differences

Did you noticed this stamp on one of yesterday's envelopes? It was issued in 2023 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Jorge Semprún, a Spanish writer and politician. He lived in France most of his life and wrote primarily in French, and La Poste dedicated a stamp to him as well (I have recently got it).

At first sight, both seems to have chosen the same picture!

From a trip to Barcelona, I sent a postcard to Bryon featuring Alexander Calder's Mercury fountain. And, as usual, he found the perfect stamps to reply!

Medieval Matters

I sent a letter on this reused envelope, slightly decorated, to Laura (the UK). Of course, you cannot tell by the cover (the stamp is a hint), but all it contained were medieval matters. 

So, the reply in the form of the postcard below was most appropriated!

Monsters Go

Monsters Go is an Instagram account is a weekly art challenge that proposes to re-draw a monster, taking a kid drawing as a prompt. 

It exists since 2016, but I did not know until I got this letter by Heleen (the Netherlands), inspired by Dylan's monster. Of course, any monster can become a mail monster...

Picasso Postcards

I got this nice postcard from two friends visiting the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. 

I guess this time I had the right postcards to reply!

I got this card from Laura (the UK). My reply reached her on the envelope below, made of a page of a magazine

Small!

I conduct a sort of postal experiment: I sent to Bryon (the USA) a very small card Oz-themed. (Sorry, I did not take any picture of it!)

It arrived safe and sound, and the reply came as a similar card, slightly smaller than the postal regulations allow. It travelled 28 days before reaching my mailbox. 

It was delivered while it was really pouring outside, hence those strange marks and the illegible postmark. But it was perfectly readable inside, and the Judy Garland's stamps remained in good condition.

When the World Is Upside Down

This stamp was designed by María Campo Barrio. She won the 1st prize in the junior category of the VI stamp design contest Disello.

It inspired me to draw this envelope to Phillip (USA).

But I wasn't the only one...  Another girl wears the same sport shoes on this envelope sent by Imma (PC):

The New Normal

You might have noticed that a new label for posts, The New Normal, has appeared on this blog since March. Actually, I added it later, when the our government decided we were heading towards... well, The New Normal. 

I guess most people is still struggling to know what normal or new normal exactly means. My friend Laura sent me this postcard, and it inspired me to draw this envelope. Just to get it clear.

The Christmas Version

Bryon (the USA) sent me this card during the summer. It is an original retro version of the Space Needle, drawn by The Brush & Mallett. It arrived inside an orange envelope, and with really summer (and yummy!) stamps:

Some days ago, I was happily surprised when the holidays version arrived!

Now I am imagining those giant Christmas lights...

Red Tulips

I love this postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands) with one of my favourite flowers.

I was happy to have the right envelope to reply it. But I couldn't resist to draw my own version of the tulip...

And still more red tulips! I made this envelope of wrapping paper. Actually, it wrapped a present from Heleen, so I just gave her back part of it. The shaped stamp is almost invisible, isn't it?
