Introducing Thursday Postcard Hunt

Welcome to a new postcard challenge from See It on a Postcard blog: Thursday Postcard Hunt.

Right, here is my idea for a postcard challenge. There will be a general monthly theme with a related weekly challenge that narrows it down. There will likely be overlaps. And there will be repeats but with slight variations. If you don't have - or can't find - something for a specific week, feel free to post something from a different week two times.

Again, feel free to interpret the theme/challenge any way you wish.

This will be on THURSDAYS.

Sunday Stamps | Patterns

Some stamps showing beautiful Patterns for today's Sunday Stamps:

These two stamps from 2011 belong to same series: Morris and Company. Feel free to ignore the dreadful cancellation on the second one.

The original company of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. was founded in 1861, and quickly established a reputation for fashionable interior design and manufacture of fine furniture and decorations. Its Pre-Raphaelite founders were artist and designer William Morris, together with partners Edward Burne-Jones, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the architect Philip Webb, artist Ford Madox Brown, his associate Peter Paul Marshall and Charles Faulkner.

This stamp, designed by Marzanna Dąbrowska, seems to be a very usual one. It belongs to the 2013 Economic and Priority Stamps. The designs are eye-catching, do not you think so?

Gifts of the Forest is the name of the set this stamp belongs to, issued in 2018. I have got only this one, but, again, I found a picture of the sheet on the net:

  

Not easy stamps to get, due to their high face rates. I am not sure I have seen (let alone get) a lot of $2 and $5 stamps. And it seems there is a $10 one, too. According to the information on the USPS site, "the designs become more complex as the denominations rise".

Alphabet 2023 | O Is for O'Brien

The following one in the Alphabet 2023 project is O, sent from O'Brien (Oregon). But, this time it does not get a manual cancellation (Sorry: I am not able to read the automated cancellation).

But it got perfectly matched stamps on the back!

I have got this postcard twice through the Postcrossing site: from Olaf in Germany, and from Gosia in the Netherlands (in 2021). However, I would not associate the Budweiser brand to any ot those countries, but to the USA.

The first Friday of August, some people celebrate the International Beer Day. I wish you a happy beer if you are among the beer drinkers.

This year there is not EUROPA stamp contest, because all the participant countries are issuing a stamp with the same design, dedicated to Peace - the highest value of humanity.

I thought it would be nice to get the stamp from as many countries as possible. So I arranged some swaps that are ongoing. The latest batch of peace has landed: from Croatia, France, Italy, Lithuania and Slovenia. Some countries, as you can see, have issued more than one stamp.

But there are still a lot of missing countries in my collection-to-be! If you wish to swap the Peace stamp (or swap it for a postcard, envelope, etc.), just let me know!

Alphabet 2023 | L Is for Logansport

L is for Logansport, in Louisiana. This is the 13th postcard I get from Bryon's project Alphabet 2023. That means halfway, and a lot of postcards, stamps and fun.

This time, I could easily read the postmark. But not the date on the corner. Also, one of the stamps was attacked by the mail monsters.
