Postcard from Iran

Sent by Ann (Iran).

Postcard featuring Khajoo bridge, a bit damaged during its way to Morocco (six weeks, more or less...). It is always a pleasure to add a new country to my list. I guess it is not easy to get a postcard from Iran.

By the way, I cannot understand the postmark. 91?!? (update: see Heleen's comment).

Update 21/10/2016: I added this postcard to Maria's linky party Postcards for the weekend. It is a postcard received a long time ago, but I still think is is a very special card, and it is the first that came to my mind when I read the theme: Reflections on water.

  1. Ow, you lucky one, I am so happy to read you can add this card to your list! (This beautiful picture would also be nice for Eutrapèlia!)

I've once received a 'thank you'-card from Iran, as a reply to a postcard I sent to Iran by Postcrossing (but alas there wasn't a real stamp, only a cancelling stamp on it).

Wondering about 91? Sure you know! It's the year 1391, of course. And when Spring will arrive (less than two weeks left: somewhere about 21nd of March) the New Year will start, 1392!

    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendar
(and isn't it 1434 in your place now? :-)
    And about NewYear: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nowruz .

I always love to see our own habits are just habits (e.g. thinking that it's the year 2013 all-over-the-world), so by your question I learned to put in perspective our own calendar again :-)

    1. I did again, I forget that besides "our" year and Muslim year there are a lot of years in the world! Thank you for the explanation. And then still people don't undesrtand when I say that mail open our minds... ;)

Funny fact about this postcard: the sender is from Australia indeed! :D

    1. It arrived a bit wretched, but it is normal after some weeks travelling... I'm happy that I receive it!

  4. Beautiful, I like your sender has used fish stamps, I wonder if there are any in the water. How nice that Heleen could solve a mystery, so interesting.

    1. This is the only one I have, and it is not easy to get mail from there(not for me, anyway). I'm glad that you like it, Maria, thanks.
