Sunday Stamps | Dad's Army

Dad's Army is a BBC television situation comedy about the antics of a British Home Guard unit during the Second World War in the fictional seaside town of Walmington-on-Sea. It was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft and broadcast on the BBC from 1968 to 1977.

Royal Mail marked the 50th anniversary of this enduring and hugely popular sitcom with a set of eight Special Stamps.

    I found this show on youtube and at one time was going through it episode by episode from the beginning, then decided I wasn't that invested in it. Maybe it was funnier in the 70s?
    Anyway, I like your choice!

      My parents used to watch the serie (and laugh out loud :-) ), so I saw it, too. And although I, as a child in the 70ies, didn't understand the jokes and even didn't realize that the story took place in a war, I liked the happy atmosphere of the actors and my laughing parents. So I was very happy when I received 'Daar komen de schutters' (Dutch name for the serie) stamps!

      Nowadays series from the 70ies look very slow :-)

    I thought the 'don't panic' one of this set would be good one to send if someone was having a significant birthday. The show repeats still run here. Nice to have the St Ives postmark.

      Someone chose one from this series when I asked for a stamp that summarised life during the last months: "We're dommed. Dommed!" :D

    'Don't Panic" with Corporal Jones is my favourite. The show is still be shown on UK TV.
