'A dream,' he said, 'as it goes WHIFFLING trough the night air, is making a little BUZZING-HUMMING noise. But this little BUZZY-HUM is so silvery soft, it is IMPOSSIBLE or a human bean to be HEARING it'.

Happy Roald Dahl Day!
Postcard sent by Heleen (the Netherlands). Illustration by Quentin Blake for Roald Dahl's book Matilda (one of the first book I read in English, and a favourite).
2016 marks 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl, so today's a big Roald Dahl Day party will be celebrated around the world.

Concert in A major per zebra i llop
Sent to Angela Caporaso (Italy).
Altered score with press cuttings and poems, for the project Aristicamente una partitura ('Artistically a mail art score'). Also published in the website of the project.
The lyrics:
1) Poem of Pere Quart written in Catalan: Zebra, pel desert corre la brama que no et saps treure el pijama (='Zebra, it is rumored in the desert that you don't know how to take off your pyjamas').
2) From Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes: As soon the Wolf began to feel that he would like a decent meal, he went and knocked at Grandma's (door)...
(Nedless to say I have no idea about scores and music.)

Wonka Sweets
Sent by Eutrapèlia (PC).
Handmade postcard made of a box of Everlasting Gobstopper bought in the USA.
This kind of sweets, sold by The Willy Wonka Candy Company, are named after the Roald Dahl's children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In Dahl's story, Everlasting Gobstoppers are purported to last forever.
Have you ever tasted them? Do they really last forever?!?

Roald Dahl Day
I've been lately reading some books written by Roald Dahl (and sending some postcards!). By the way, one of my favourite authors. And I've been getting these beautiful stamps sent by Laura (the UK). They belong to a stamp set issued by the Royal Mail.
I've published two of them here and here. I wanted to publish it today again because today we celebrate the Roald Dahl Day! Yes, the official Roald Day Day takes places every year on 13 September. And in 2012 the swizzfiggling BFG, which is famous for catching, creating and making dreams come true, is turning 30. If you do not know how to celebrate it, here and here you have some scrumdiddlyumptious ideas.

Lezende vrouwen
Collage made of postcards sent by Laura (the UK), Tarya (Finland) and Frits (the Netherlands).
When I receive a postcard about one of my favourite subjects it makes my day. Of course it is easy if you have a loooong list of favourite subjects ;)
One of mine is reading women. Of course I am not the only one who loves them. My friend Laura also owns a good collection of reading women, even if she does not upload all her postcards (too many postcards, too much work...). But the most amazing collection I have ever seen is Lezende Women. I have also contributed myself to increase this collection long time ago, by sending this and this.
After seeing this amazing blog, I am not sure if you feel like visiting my humble collection of reading women...
