Magda Szabó (1917 – 2007) was a Hungarian novelist. She is the most translated Hungarian author, with publications in 42 countries and over 30 languages. The stamp was issued last year, for the 100th anniversary of her birthday.
For the new edition of Sunday Stamps-II A to Z, I have decided to show some of the stamps I have got on letters and postcards, related to one topic: women. This is the post for the letter T.
More women on stamps.

oh, a Magda Szabo stamp! I didn't know one had been issued! Ok, I would have to work on getting it now... I have read just one of her books (unfortunately) but totally loved it and was just so absorbed into it. It is "The Door" - for me this book was just so mesmerizing. I think it is also like her most famous and most translated one. Highly recommend it! A good reminder to look for some of her other works....
ReplyDeleteI have never read any of her books. But I will!
DeleteI'm reading it right now...
DeleteI like all the words whirling above Magda Szabo's head and who can resist a stamp with a cake in prime position:)
ReplyDeleteThat cake is eye-catching, isn't it?
DeleteI'm not familiar with any of these women. And I really wish I understood the significance of the cake on the Manyi Kiss stamp - what a decadent addition!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit odd, isn't it?
DeleteEeven I had heard of Magda Szabo. You are finding some gems for women on stamps.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteI confess I have heard of neither of these accomplished women.
ReplyDeleteAlso unknown to me until I got these stamps :D
