Illustrated News

John (the UK) sent this postcard. It is an illustration taken from an Illustrated London News of 1856.

I find it strange to see people so close from each other. Even on postcards!

  1. I know! I am seeing tv shows and movies in a whole new light with their lack of social distancing!!

    2. I keep thinking the same thing. Although this weekend there were a lot of people out and about as the weather was really nice - not much distancing and very few wearing masks :(

    3. Here masks may be compulsory within a few days.

  2. Also I frown my eyebrows when seeing many people close to each other on pre-covid pictures and when seeing people shake hands in movies...
Amazing that this 'new normal' thinking is adapted this soon by so many people - while the situation still feels kind of surreal - and I am still surprised that adaptation to these new habits takes place so fast and all-over the world..

    1. You're right.
But, sometimes, I'm also surprised when I see people not wearing masks, or standing very close and exchanging their mobile phones...

    2. It shows what an adaptable species we are that we have come to see the new normal so quickly. I too do a 'double take' every time I see a postcard or book illustration with crowds.
